Quality of life and regional disparity - economic aspect

This bachelor thesis describes the understanding and definition of terms such as quality of life and regional disparity. The main aim of thesis is to analyse and evaluate the economic effects individual regions of the Czech Republic based on literature and mathematical formulae. The quality of life can be viewed from many perspectives - sociology, ecology, psychology and economics. All of them are explained, but especially the thesis is focused on the economic perspective. The selected method of analysis is an assessment of regional disparities in the quality of life from the viewpoint of regional economic indicators. The conclusion of analysis is the result of an economic comparison of the quality of life in the regions and proposed possible solutions for low economic diversity between regions.
Analysis of regional policy of the EU with focus on achieved outcomes

The European Union aims to reduce interregional disparities through its regional policy. This thesis deals with the effectiveness of EU regional policy and trends of regional disparities according to selected indicators. In the case study the impact of EU regional policy is observed in Ireland, the Czech republic and Bulgaria. Regional disparities are examined at NUTS 2 level. The Williamson curve is tested to explore the association between the level of economic development and level of disparities. In the comparative study the values of indicators are compared to the EU average. In the end, the thesis is focused on evaluation of EU regional policy efectiveness and seven recommendations are proposed to contribute to the improvement of EU regional policy so that goals of Europe 2020 Strategy are achieved.

SKYVOVÁ, BARBORA. Consequences of Economic Crisis on autonomous communities and cities in Spain. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2017. The diploma thesis focuses on impacts of the economic crisis (2008-2009) on seventeen autonomous communities and two autonomous cities of Spain. beta-convergence analysis and cluster analysis are applied to identify convergence or divergence process among Spanish regions within periods 2000-2007 and 2008-2015. Differences among regions are found out and economic situation is defined by macroeconomic indicators.
Vliv finanční krize na konvergenci regionů Spolkové republiky Německo

This diploma thesis deals with the impacts of financial and economic crisis on thirty-eight NUTS 2 regions of Germany. This includes identifying trends in regional convergence/divergence for the reference period 2004-2013 and determining the probable cause of observed disparities. For this purpose, cluster analysis and beta-convergence analysis are applied and conducted for the periods before and at the start of the financial crisis and during the outbreak of the economic crisis and after its overcoming. The impacts of the crisis on economic development of each region are also investigated by using important macroeconomic indicators.

This bachelor thesis deals with disparities in regions of the Czech Republic. The aim is to determinate similar and different regions of the CR using cluster analysis by means of selected indicators that represent economic, demographic and social aspects of observed units. To express differences, regions are divided into clus-ters. The result of analysis presents division of regions into several groups that mainly differentiate based on their economic situation. The nature of regional disparities is subsequently discussed and recommendations for the management are made.

This diploma thesis deals with existing regional disparities in Germany with focus on differences between north and south regions at NUTS I level. The main goal is to divide analysed regions into clusters of similar regions using cluster analysis and prove the existence of regional disparities between north and south of Germany. Regional differences are determined using a group of selected regional disparity indicators that reflect different aspects of economy and life in German regions. The aim is also to analyse the development trend of regional disparities in years 2006-2016 using β and δ convergence models. Results are subsequently interpreted from an economic point of view.

This thesis deals with regional disparities of youth unemployment in the Visegrad Group countries. The aim of this work is to seize the development of youth unemployment in the Visegrad Four regions and to find out which determinants, whether economic, demographic or social, influence the differences in youth unemployment among individual regions. The work is based on data available on the website of the European Statistical Office. The analytical part examines the relationship between the youth unemployment rate (at the level of NUTS 2 regions) and the level of education, GDP per capita and the rate of general unemployment. The thesis uses the method of correlation analysis of dependence between individual determinants and the method of trend analysis of unemployment development
Územní polarita socioekonomické diferenciace Španělska

This bachelor thesis deals with the territorial polarity of the socioeconomic differentiation of Spain, which is observed based on indicators divided into three groups: economic, social and political-cultural. The main goal of the thesis is to carry out the synthesis of the socioeconomic polarity by creating two poles of different development level, the core and the semi-periphery. The description of the disparities' main determinants and the specifics of the Spanish space's polarization are included in the synthesis. In the analytical part, the thesis is complemented with the map outputs of individual indicators, while the final synthesis' maps portray the said territorial polarity dividing Spain into the developed and the lagging part.

This thesis deals with the topic of territorial socio-economic differentiation polarity of Switzerland. It also aims to monitor disparities, uneven regional development and examination of heterogeneity of the position of each of the territorial units. Indicators were chosen for the assessment, which are supported by secondary quantitative statistical data. You find the position of the regions of the economic, social and other points of view. The goal is to find the main determinants and causes of the different development of individual regions. After their assessment in the analytical part of the work the indicators are further used in the synthesis. Here, using statistical methods, we determined whether an individual regions are more developer or less developed.
